We celebrated National Roofing Week this month with the National Roofing Contractors Association. Each day from June 2 to 8th, we shared an inside look at our company’s charitable contributions, training initiatives, employee appreciation efforts, and signature projects.
The week-long celebration was created to increase awareness across the U.S. about the significance roofs hold for properties and share the industry’s good deeds. We love National Roofing Week because it gives us a chance to celebrate what we do best. We work hard throughout the year to service homeowners and strengthen our team while doing so.
Charity
We made it our mission to “Do the right thing, through higher standards and integrity,” so it’s no question that giving back to the community is important to us. In 2015 we started our signature community program, Covers 4 Others. We’ve provided over 40 free roofs to deserving homeowners across America. We’ve serviced veterans, underinsured homeowners, single parents, churches and more. We love showing the value of having a stable roof by restoring damaged houses back into wholesome homes. In addition to Covers 4 Others, we’ve been a platinum sponsor for Lee’s Summit, Missouri-based organization Grant’s Cause for 7 years. This organization puts on a 5k race each year, and proceeds benefit children and families who need assistance covering medical costs associated with spina bifida. We’ve partnered with various roofing suppliers and custom home builders for fundraisers throughout the year, and every year around the winter holidays, we concentrate our efforts on donating to local organizations to help those in need.
Training
We work hard and we train even harder. All Aspen new hires undergo a full week of in-depth training, where they learn the ins and outs of the industry and the Aspen way. We create an environment where they can comfortably learn from top leaders in the company and work together to foster greater understanding. Not only do they get audible and visual learning opportunities, but we take our training out into the field to make it hands-on. Our project consultants practice completing inspections and talking to homeowners to get a full scope of what the job entails. It doesn’t stop there; we hold weekly training sessions on various industry topics to keep our toolboxes equipped with knowledge. We even invite our suppliers to our offices to tell us all about advancements and techniques regarding their products. Our commitment to consistent training shows through in the quality of our work and customer service.
Employee Appreciation
Aspen would be nothing without hardworking, dedicated employees to keep us going. From our customer service department to our project consultants, each member of our team plays a valuable role in our success. New Project Consultant Butch Bandy appreciates Aspen’s commitment to recognizing team members, “I like seeing my name in the newsletter. They recognize people that do their job and do the hard work. It motivates us.” We love recognizing our team so much that each year we award our top performers with an invitation to a week-long company trip. Past adventures have included Caribbean cruises, Orlando, FL, San Diego, CA, Lake Tahoe, NV and more. With all the appreciation efforts, Project Consultant Jeffrey McConnell knows he’s part of our bigger purpose. “It’s nice to have a company that really recognizes their employees when they do a good job. There are some companies and some managers you work for. There are other companies and managers that you work WITH. With Aspen, I feel like I’m working with.” It’s our goal to make all employees feel this way. We’re all in this together.
Signature Projects
There’s no project too big or small for our team. In the past year, we’ve completed some really cool projects. Each project is a new opportunity to grow and remain a leader in the industry. Sometimes our ambitious efforts are so pioneering that they begin to influence the industry. In February 2019 we completed a commercial project using a custom tile blend named Aspen Light. The manufacturer, Stoneworth Custom Tiles liked the style so much that it added it to its permanent collection! Talk about influence! This type of innovation is what keeps us going. Check out our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more inside looks at our projects.
As we close out National Roofing Week, we’re moving on with a continued and a strengthened sense of purpose, ambition, and innovation. It’s only up from here.
