We’re gearing up for OSHA’s annual Safe + Sound Week. Next week from August 12-18, our team members across the country will share photos of how they practice safety on job sites and within the office. Showcasing our commitment to safety shows our clients and the industry at large that when we say we do the right thing, through higher standards and integrity, we mean it.
From fall protection, to heat safety, we ensure our team is safe all around.
“Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 366 of the 971 construction fatalities recorded in 2017 (BLS data). Those deaths were preventable (osha.gov).
Working on a roof in hot temperatures and/ or in direct sunlight is also one of the more common causes of death in the construction industry. Heat can effect good decision making, clouding clear thinking. A worker who is not affected by heat can more easily navigate the roof and find placements for footing over a worker who has been affected by heat exhaustion.
We take preventative measures to protect our employees by providing regular training and meetings. These training sessions occur weekly and after any uncommon near miss or accident. Weekly safety talks with crews and frequent tool and equipment inspections have ensured they maintain the proper equipment in good working order to keep themselves and bystanders safe.
Check back next week for more photos of our team doing what we do best!
